Scope and Content View of Kilmun House from the south, Argyll and Bute Kilmun House is probably of 18th-century date with late 19th-century alterations and an extension. Sited at the foot of a wooded hillside, near the north-east shore of the Holy Loch, it originally belonged to the Campbells of Kilmun. This, the original part of the house, is two-storeyed with a basement. It has a main front of six bays, with the entrance doorway in the third bay from the left. The moulded surround and pediment of the doorway probably date to the late 19th century. The basement windows have been altered but the windows on the other floors have sloping sills and date to the 18th century. The roof, with its crowstepped gables, chimney-stacks and moulded eaves-course at the wall-head dates to the 19th century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
