Scope and Content View of the great barn at Taynish Farm from the south-west, Argyll and Bute Taynish was the seat of the Macnortheill family from the 15th to the 18th century. In 1780 the estate was acquired by Sir Archibald Campbell of Inverneill and his descendants owned it until 1929. The south-west front of the barn is five-bayed, with a central round-headed doorway. Through the doorway, the entry-ports to the dovecot can be seen. The ports are in a circular piece of timber. This barn formed one wing of a farm steading. The other buildings, to the left and right of the barn, are of mid-19th-century date. The area in the middle of the buildings would have formed an enclosed courtyard.
