Scope and Content View of central block of the main front of Ardpatrick House, Argyll and Bute Ardpatrick had been the seat of the MacAlisters of Loup throughout the 17th and 18th centuries. The existing house was built in 1769 for Angus MacAlister by the master-mason John Menelaws and his brother Thomas, from Greenock. This part of the present house was built in 1769. Two flanking wings were added slightly later. This principal or east façade has five bays and a central doorway, which is now enclosed in a porch dating to the 19th century. The central window on the first floor has a lugged and moulded architrave. The other first-floor windows have plain sandstone surrounds. The windows on the ground floor, originally like the windows above, were altered in 1923. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
