Scope and Content East apse of St Cuthbert's Parish Church, Colinton, Edinburgh St Cuthbert's Parish Church stands on the north side of the bridge across the Water of Leith in the elbow of the river at Colinton village. The present building dates from 1908, but there has been a church on or near this site for over 900 years. The apse, at the east end of the church, is framed with dove-grey marble, and has nine small windows to allow natural light into the nave. The pulpit is on the left, and above is an oak cross-beam inscibed: 'O WORSHIP THE LORD IN THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS'. The nine small niched stained glass windows of the apse were inserted in 1925, and represent the nine Fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, fidelity, gentleness and self control.
