Scope and Content East Port Calender Works, Dundee, Angus This works was rebuilt on the site of an early-mid 19th century calender works and spinning mill, for Low and Bonar. The new building has a reinforced-concrete frame. This view shows a sack-printing machine made by Thomas C Keay Ltd. This machine used rubber 'plates' with the design to be printed in raised form. A typical 'plate can be seen on the left. This works was still operating in 1978, but the calenders were sold to Tunisian operators in the 1980s. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
