Scope and Content East Port Calender Works, Dundee, Angus This works was rebuilt on the site of an early-mid 19th century calender works and spinning mill, for Low and Bonar. The new building has a reinforced-concrete frame. This view shows a Singer industrial sewing machine, used for sewing sacks. The electric motor which drove the machine can be seen below the machine table. This works was still operating in 1978, but the calenders were sold to Tunisian operators in the 1980s.
