Scope and Content Spittal of Glenshee, fermtoun, Perth and Kinross Stretching from the church at Spittal of Glenshee to Dalmunzie are the well-preserved remains of a pre-improvement landscape, comprising a fermtoun, a series of farmsteads and extensive traces of former cultivation. The fermtoun comprises 16 buildings and associated yards, some visible in this photograph. Constructed from stone, the buildings were rectangular in shape and were sometimes divided into two or three compartments. Recorded by archaeological field-survey in the 1980s, documentary sources mention the lands of 'Spittale of Glensche' in 1542. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
