Scope and Content Rear view of Woodhall House, Woodhall Road, Colinton, Edinburgh Woodhall House, built c.1630 for Adam Cunningham, Lord Woodhall, stands in an isolated rural setting at the western end of Woodhall Road. The house was bought in the late 17th century by Sir John Foulis, cousin of Sir James Foulis, Lord Colinton. The house, enlarged in the late 17th century by Sir John Foulis, was again altered and extended c.1820 when this wing was added. The windows still retain horizontal glazing bars. When Sir John Foulis bought the house and estate of Woodhall, he retained his townhouse just off the High Street in Edinburgh. Like many successful gentlemen in the area, he travelled in and out of the city by coach for business, entertainment and sport. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
