Scope and Content Mucomir Hydro-electric Power Station, Inverness-shire This is a small hydro-electric generating station built for the North of Scotland Hydro-electric Board, and using the water of the river Lochy where it was diverted to make way for the construction of the Caledonian Canal. This view shows the station beside the weir which impounds the water to drive it. The tail-race runs behind the wall to the right of the station, entering the river again below the Bridge of Mucomir. This is one of a number of small stations built in the 1940s and 50s where there was a local need or a local opportunity. It is run as part of the much larger Garry-Moriston hydro-electric scheme.
