Scope and Content Edington Mill, Berwickshire (The Scottish Borders council area) This is a large water-powered oatmeal mill, with a four storey main range, on an L-plan. In 1974 it had four waterwheels, three in usable condition. The main drive wheels were a pair of low-breast paddle wheels 1.83 by 4.88m. This view shows a very small waterwheel about 0.76 by 1.83m, in the same pit as the main wheels, one of which can just be seen to the right. This wheel may have been installed to drive an electric generator. This mill was still in operation in the 1970s, the last of its kind in the Borders. Its subsequent history is not known to the author. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
