Scope and Content Aerial view of Invergordon, Highland Invergordon was established in the mid 18th century as a fishing settlement. It expanded during the 19th century, becoming a police burgh in 1864. This aerial view shows the town in 1991. The modern dockyard facilities (centre) were founded in the 1900s.
