Scope and Content View of bell tower of All Saints' Episcopal Church from the south-east, Inveraray, Argyll and Bute All Saints' Episcopal Church was built in 1866 to designs by Wardrop & Anderson, architects, Edinburgh. Amelia, Duchess of Argyll, paid for the church. This is the detached bell tower a few metres to the south-west, which was built in 1923-32. The tower is a memorial to Campbells who died in World War I and previous wars. It was a project of Niall, 10th Duke of Argyll, and the design was by his friend Edward Hoare, of Hoare & Wheeler, London architects. The tower contains ten bells which were designed and cast by John Taylor & Co. of Loughborough in 1920. Each bell is tuned to the others so the tones blend smoothly and each bell bears the name of a Celtic saint. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
