Scope and Content Dysart Harbour, Fife Dysart Harbour dates in part from the 17th century, but has been much altered and improved. It consists of two outer breakwater piers enclosing a basin subdivided by two short piers. At the inner end is a small wet dock built in 1831. This view shows the wet dock from the west inner pier. Light moveable bridge spans the entrance to the dock, which was badly silted by 1975. The harbour was in fact designed primarily for coal shipment, which was badly hit by the coming of the railway in 1847. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
