Scope and Content Dysart Harbour, Fife Dysart Harbour dates in part from the 17th century, but has been much altered and improved. It consists of two outer breakwater piers enclosing a basin subdivided by two short piers. At the inner end is a small wet dock built in 1831. This view shows the entrance to the wet dock, with one of the wooden gates in its recess. The warehouse in the background had been converted into a yacht club for owners of the pleasure craft that were the main users of the harbour in the 1970s. The harbour was in fact designed primarily for coal shipment, which was badly hit by the coming of the railway in 1847. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
