Connection to the rail network in 1862 fuelled further expansion. The town-centre was redeveloped in 1963. Dingwall Railway Station was built to designs by Murdoch Patterson in 1886. The crests of the crow-stepped gables are decorated with finials; a carved thistle (left) and a stylised sun (right). Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
