Scope and Content Bladnoch Distillery, Wigtownshire This distillery was founded in 1817 by John and Thomas McClelland, under the Small Stills Act of the previous year. It was rebuilt in 1878, and altered in the post-World War II period The buildings in use in 1974 were mainly of the 1870s. This view shows the distillery from the west, looking across the river Bladnoch. Note the pagoda roof of the malt barns, which were disused by the time this photograph was taken. This was the last distillery to operate in Dumfires and Galloway. It has been in intermittent production since the 1980s. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
