SC 444571

Description Montroseness, Lighthouse View of lighthouse and keeper's cottages from S

Date 1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 444571

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Scurdie Ness Lighthouse, Angus This lighthouse was designed by David and Thomas Stevenson, engineers to the Northern Lighthouse Board. It has a tall tapering circular-section tower, and a two-storey block of keepers' houses with pitched roofs. This view shows the lighthouse from the north west. The simplicity of the design is evident, and is characteristic of the work of these two designers. This lighthouse is, like all Northern Lighthouse Board lights, now automic in operation.
