Date 16/5/1974

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 438137

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Dunnet Head Lighthouse, Caithness This lighthouse was designed by Robert Stevenson. The circular- section tower is not very tall, because of its cliff-top location. The corbelled gallery has Robrt Stevenson's characteristic diamond-pattern railings. This view shows the lighthouse from the south east, with the keepers' houses in the foreground, and the twin foghorns in the background. The lantern is not original. This lighthouse, like all other Northern Lighthouse Board lighthouses, has been automated. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
