Scope and Content Dunnet Head Lighthouse, Caithness This lighthouse was designed by Robert Stevenson. The circular- section tower is not very tall, because of its cliff-top location. The corbelled gallery has Robert Stevenson's characteristic diamond-pattern railings. This view shows the lighthouse from the south, with the keepers' houses in the foreground, and the twin foghorns in the background. The lantern is not original. This lighthouse, like all other Northern Lighthouse Board lighthouses, has been automated. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
