Scope and Content Invergordon Harbour, Ross and Cromarty This harbour consisted of a straight masonry east pier, with a timber extension, and an L-plan masonry west pier, enclosing a roughly rectangular basin. To the east is a long deep-water jetty built when Invergordon became a naval base. This view shows the west pier from the north. Since this photograph was taken Invergordon has become a base for the North Sea oil industry, and this harbour has been swallowed up in an enlarged facility, though it is still recognisable.
