Scope and Content Tweed mill, Pitlochry, Perthshire This mill, or rather factory, was built by Macnaughtons to make high class tweeds for their outfitting shop in Pitlochry. The mill consisted of two ranges of single-storey weaving sheds. This view shows the mill from the north east. Th mill and its associated shop owe their existence to the late Victorian and Edwardian fashion for tweed sporting and leisure clothes. Pitlochry was a convenient centre for a large area of deer forest and grouse moor. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
