Scope and Content Agent's house at the former Cockburnspath Station, Berwickshire This station was on the North British Railway route from Edinburgh to Berwick. This view shows the station building from the road side. The low-pitched Italianate roofs with overhanging eaves and the ashlar construction of the walls are typical of North British Railway practice. Wayside stations like this were important to rural communities until motorised road transport developed in the interwar years. Closures followed in the years after World War II.
