Scope and Content The former South Morningside Church, Braid Road, Morningside, Edinburgh The former South Morningside Church, on the north corner of Braid Road and Cluny Drive, was designed in a mixed Gothic style by Sir Robert Rowand Anderson, and opened in 1892. It is now no longer used for worship, and serves as the Cluny Church Centre. The church, built in red sandstone, has a series of large windows running along the upper part of its south wall facing Cluny Drive. These show a type of Gothic tracery, a decorative pattern of arches supporting the glass in the upper part. In 1974 the church closed for worship, and the interior was remodelled as the Cluny Church Centre. It was divided, forming a series of small rooms on the ground floor and a hall above, to serve as a meeting place for church and other secular groups. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
