Scope and Content Cramond Churchyard, Cramond Glebe Road, Cramond, Edinburgh Cramond Church, standing in a woodland setting on the hill above Cramond village, was built in 1656 on the site of a medieval church which had become ruinous. It incorporates the 15th-century tower from the earlier building at its west end. The churchyard, which surrounds the church on three sides, is bounded by a high stone wall. The gravestones include a wide variety of different types and dates, the earliest being from the 17th century. Many are set firmly in moulded bases. The oldest legible headstone in the churchyard is an elaborate memorial, carved with a crest and heraldic symbols, and set into the east wall. It is to the memory of John Stalker, who died on 6 February 1608. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
