Scope and Content Dairy, Rosehaugh House, near Avoch, Highland Rosehaugh House was built in 1798 for Sir Roderick Mackenzie of Scatwell. It was altered twice for the Fletcher family: in 1872 by Alexander Ross; and in 1898-1903, by William Flockhart, in French Renaissance style. It was demolished in 1959. The dairy complex was built in about 1910. It consists of a cottage (foreground) linked to the dairy itself (rear) by a covered way. Its design was influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement. The Rosehaugh Estate was purchased in 1864 by James Fletcher. Originally from Avoch, he had grown rich as a merchant in Liverpool. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
