Scope and Content The collection comprises c174 film negatives and prints taken in 1961 and between 1964-1966 of buildings mainly in the West and North of Scotland including various sites in Ross and Cromarty; buildings on Barra, North and South Uist, Rum, Eigg, Skye and Harris; as well as buildings on Arran and in Millport, Great Cumbrae Island.
Archive History Photographs by Matthew Gibb, recorded on the prints as 'M Gibb' or 'M G'. It is possible that he was a professional photographer working for or on behalf of the Scottish Development Department or another government body.
System of Arrangement The collection is arranged geographically by county.
Access Conditions There are no restrictions upon access but please contact the archive in advance of a visit.
Administrative History The collection was likely deposited with the Scottish National Buildings Record c1961-66, and at least on one more occasion with RCAHMS after 1966. The prints are all mounted on cards stamped with Scottish National Buildings Record, and the copyright is recorded as NMRS or SNBR.
