Scope and Content General view of Geanies House, Ross and Cromarty Geanies House was originally owned by MacLeod of Assynt, who built the present house in the early 18th century. Additions were carried out by his great-grandson c.1800. In 1826 Kenneth Murray bought the estate, and it remained in his family until 1982. This is the main entrance front of the house, built around 1760. The central three-storeyed block, with its piended roof, had a Roman Doric loggia added c.1810, which has since been glazed to form an enclosed porch or conservatory-style entrance. The east (right) wing was probably built in 1742, which is the date of a stone built into its west face. It is slightly taller and narrower than the west (left) wing, which was added at the same time as the central block. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
