Scope and Content Basement of octagonal tower, kitchen, ground floor, east wing, Foulis Castle, near Evanton, Highland Foulis Castle, in its present form, was built between 1740 and 1777 by the Munro family who had owned the land since the 13th century. Parts of its masonry contain sections of an earlier tower-house which existed by 1587. This is the basement of the octagonal tower to the rear of the castle. It forms the north bay of the ground-floor kitchen. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
