Scope and Content Drainage system, north-west tower of courtyard steading, Foulis Castle, near Evanton, Highland Foulis Castle, in its present form, was built between 1740 and 1777 by the Munro family who had owned the land since the 13th century. Parts of its masonry contain sections of an earlier tower-house which existed by 1587. Excavations revealed a drainage system on north-west side of north-west tower of the courtyard steading. The tower may have been part of the original castle's defences. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
