Scope and Content Ground-floor entrance, south front of Castle Leod, near Strathpeffer, Highland Castle Leod was probably rebuilt after 1608 - the year Roderick Mackenzie received the estate from his brother - and enlarged a few years later. It fell into disuse in the 18th century and was restored, altered and extended in the 19th century. This is the main ground-floor entrance of the 17th-century south extension of the east-west block. Impressive heraldic panels are carved over the doorway. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
