Scope and Content 1930s photograph of tomb of Bishop Fraser, south aisle of church, Fortrose Cathedral, Fortrose, Highland Fortrose Cathedral was built in 1236 as a replacement for a smaller structure at Rosemarkie. After the Reformation, the south aisle survived as a burial-aisle and the chapter house as a council house and school. This tomb, sitting in a heavily restored arch, is said to be that of Bishop John Fraser (or Frisel) who died in 1507. However, there is documentary evidence that he was buried at Fearn Abbey instead.
