Scope and Content Brunton Street, Falkland, Fife Falkland began as a village overlooked by a castle of the Earls of Fife. The castle became a royal hunting residence in 1437 and in 1458 Falkland, now a town, received burgh status so it could support the court. After 1700, weaving was its main industry. There are many houses dating from the 18th and 19th centuries on Brunton Street. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
