Scope and Content Plan of a burial-cairn at Balnabroich, Perth and Kinross Extensive remains of settlement and ritual activity are preserved on the moors to the north-east of Stylemouth farmstead. At least four burial cairns and a stone circle lie amongst the numerous hut-circles and small cairns. On plan, the cairn is roughly circular, its perimeter defined by a kerb of boulders, some 15 of which are still in situ. A large burial cist, which would originally have been covered by the mound, can be seen in the centre of the cairn. John Stuart, a noted 19th-century antiquary known today for his drawings of carved stones, conducted a brief excavation here in 1865, discovering that the contents of the large central cist had already been removed.
