SC 387571

Description Ceres, remains of fireplace and 'The Provost'

Catalogue Number SC 387571

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of F 2988/32A

Scope and Content Ancient stonework, Ceres, Fife Pieces of ancient stonework are built into a garden wall to the south-west of the church. These include three arches identified as either late medieval or 17th century, and a 17th-century carved plaque, described as depicting either a battle or a hunt. 'The Provost', a probably 18th-century carving of a Toby Jug, stands in a possibly late-medieval, or perhaps 17th-century, arch. Below, two similar arches support a carved panel bracketed by neoclassical female heads. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
