Scope and Content Plan of the standing stones known as the Grave of Diarmid, Perth and Kinross Situated on the top of a glacial moraine about 550m south-east of Old Spittal farmhouse and commanding extensive views down Glenshee, are the remains of a stone circle, known locally as the Grave of Diarmid. This stone circle comprises four boulders set in the form of a trapezoid. In 1894, a deep trench was cut into the natural mound on which the stone circle stands. In Irish folklore, Diarmid was a hero who eloped with Grainne, wife of the renowned hero Finn McCumhal. Pursued across Ireland and Scotland by Finn and his warriors, Diarmid was finally killed by a wild boar whilst hunting. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
