Scope and Content Foot-operated card sewing machine, Weaving Shed, St Leonard's Works, Bothwell Street, Dunfermline St Leonard's Works on Bothwell Street was built in 1851 as a linen mill for Erskine-Beveridge and recently converted into housing. This foot-powered sewing machine is used to join up the punch-cards that act like computer programs to control the factory's weaving looms. The cards are held in place by the pronged wheels.
