Scope and Content Drawing of a grave-slab from Wauchope Old Parish Church Part of the medieval church of Wauchope still stands within the grounds of the Old Parish Church. Several pieces of medieval sculpture including grave-slabs and stone mouldings have been recovered from the vicinity. Carved on this small grave-slab in false relief is the outline of a cross in false relief. Its arms are slightly wedge-shaped, and there are slight traces of a central boss. The earliest record of a church at Wauchope is 1220, when the payment of the vicar's annual stipend was agreed at five marks. The church was demolished following its absorption into the newly created parish of Langholm in 1703. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
