Scope and Content Cairns at Witch's Wate and Beattock Hill, Dumfries and Galloway On a low but prominent knoll south-west of the summit of Beattock Hill are the remains of a circular cairn. Beneath a covering of snow, the outline of this heavily robbed round cairn is readily apparent from the air. Round cairns of this type generally date to the Bronze Age and often contained burials.
