Shaft 2 collapsed and Shaft 1 was filled in 1962. Production halted until 1965 when shaft 4 was sunk. The mine closed in 1989. Coal enters the top of the plant by belt conveyor from the Car-Hall at the top of Number 3 Shaft. It is washed and sorted using sieves or screens.
