Scope and Content Part of drawing showing stay and handrail details of Haughs of Drimmie Suspension Bridge, Perthshire The bridge at Haughs of Drimmie was built around 1830 and is one of a small group of wrought-iron framed bridges of suspension type. It was probably designed by John Justice (Junior) of Dundee, based on his father's bridge at Kirkton of Glenisla. The deck of the bridge is supported by stays connected to the pylons at each end, and by a system of underbracing. This consists of two suspension rods slung between the abutments, joined to the deck by short struts. This drawing shows a detail of a joint between one of the stays and the handrail of the bridge.
