Scope and Content Section through light-tower, Port Logan (or Port Nessock), Dumfries and Galloway Port Logan was first developed in 1682. However, the existing remains were built in 1818-20 for Colonel Andrew McDouall of Logan to exploit the Irish cattle trade. The light-chamber (a) has wedge-shaped or rebated pillars (b) and an iron suspension-bar (c) for the light. It was reached by ladder (d) from the first-floor chamber (e). The fore-stair held a latrine (g). The quay-wall is sloping or battered (p). Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
