Scope and Content Part of drawing showing an arch-ring profile of part of Old Bridge at Bridge of Earn, Perthshire The Old Bridge at Bridge of Earn dates from the late 15th or early 16th century. It spans the Earn at its lowest crossing-point, a few miles upstream from the River Tay. It was partly dismantled in 1822 after a new bridge was built upstream. This drawing shows an arch-ring profile from one of the surviving arches of the bridge in 1970. A fifth arch was added in about 1766 due to river erosion on the north bank. Only the two southern arches remained in 1970 when this drawing was done. They were demolished in 1976. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
