Scope and Content Part of drawing showing plan of existing remains of Old Bridge at Bridge of Earn, Perthshire The Old Bridge at Bridge of Earn dates from the late 15th or early 16th century. It spans the Earn at its lowest crossing-point, a few miles upstream from the River Tay. It was partly dismantled in 1822 after a new bridge was built upstream. This drawing shows a plan of the existing remains (as at 1970), plus the site of the other two arches of the bridge. A fifth arch is also indicated by 'site of later works'. This was added in 1766 due to erosion of the north bank. Only the two southern (right) arches remained in 1970 when this drawing was done. They were demolished in 1976.
