Scope and Content Dwelling-house of Dunstaffnage Castle, at the mouth of Loch Etive, Argyll Because of its strategic position, Dunstaffnage Castle was a government base during both Jacobite Rebellions. Flora MacDonald was briefly held there in 1746 after she was arrested for aiding Charles Edward Stewart's(Bonnie Prince Charlie or Prince Charles Edward Stuart) escape after the Battle of Culloden. The 1725 dwelling-house incorporates earlier material and backs onto the 13th-century walls. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
