Scope and Content Temporary camp at Fourmerkland, Dumfries and Galloway This Roman temporary camp is at Fourmerkland and was built on the flat summit of a hill. The River Nith is to the S and marshy ground to the N and E. There are no surface remains of the camp and the site is usually under crops. The outline of the camp can be seen as a cropmark in this aerial view. It is roughly rectangular on plan with rounded corners. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
