Scope and Content Temporary camp at Gallaberry, Dumfries and Galloway This Roman temporary camp lies to the north-west the farm buildings at West Gallaberry. It was built on a gravel terrace, and there are no visible remains on the ground. The camp can still be seen as a cropmark in aerial photographs, such as this one. The is a 6 m wide entrance in the lower (S) side of the camp. There appears to be another entrance in the lower part of the E side, facing the modern buildings. The site was partially excavated by Professor St Joseph in 1952. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
