Scope and Content Plan of Dunstaffnage Chapel, near Dunstaffnage Castle, at the mouth of Loch Etive, Argyll Dunstaffnage Chapel's original architectural details date it to 1225-50. The burial aisle was added in 1740 when the main building was already ruinous. This was for the use of the Campbells of Dunstaffnage, hereditary Captains of Dunstaffnage castle. Only the upper courses of the original edge-roll mouldings survive on the corners. The main entrance to the nave was once ornate, but only a few stones from its hood-mould now survive. A rood screen once separated the nave from the chancel. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
