Scope and Content Drawing king-post stirrup and connection for floor suspension of airing-loft of earlier beetling shed of Avonbank Bleach and Dye Works, Larkhall Avonbank Bleach and Dye Works was founded in 1839 on the site of an earlier distillery. It soon became famous for its Scotch Holland Roller Blinds. In 1865 it passed to D C Miller who owned it until its demolition in the 1980s. The floor of the airing-loft is supported by suspension rods connected to the base of the central, or king-, post of each roof-truss. This creates the maximum uninterrupted space on the ground floor.
