Scope and Content Drawing detail of connection between arch-ribs and transverse ribs of Duchess Bridge, Langholm, Dumfriesshire Duchess Bridge was built in 1813 by William Keir junior and is the oldest surviving cast-iron bridge in Scotland. This shows how the transverse-ribs are connected to the arch-ribs, the two parallel cast iron arches. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
