Scope and Content Elevation of kiln-block of later Murrayshall Limeworks, Cambusbarron, Stirlingshire The later Murrayshall Limeworks was founded in 1896-9. It burned local limestone deposits using coal from Bannockburn. A tramway, shared with Hayford Mills, connected it to the nearby Forth and Clyde Junction Railway. The kiln-block was built in two phases. The earlier west half (right) is of coursed rubble with red sandstone arches. The later east half (left) is of squared random rubble with two grey sandstone dressings. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
